What We Offer

WriterHouse is a non-profit 501(c)3 corporation in Charlottesville, Virginia, dedicated to the support of authors of all levels and genres. We offer:

  • Work Space for Writers ― quiet, comfortable space, away from daily distractions and coffeehouse clatter.
  • Writing Classes and Seminars ― instruction in fiction, memoir, creative non-fiction and special workshop topics.
  • Critique Groups ― honest, compassionate, constructive criticism from peers and trained facilitators.
  • Readings and Events ― accomplished writers sharing their work and insights.
  • Community ― a gathering space for local working writers and enthusiasts of the literary arts.

WriterHouse, Inc. is a non-profit organization, exempt from Federal income tax under section 501(c)3 of the Internal Revenue Code, and registered as a charitable organization with the Virginia State Office of Consumer Affairs. A financial statement is available from the State Office of Consumer Affairs in the the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services upon request. WriterHouse is supported in part by a grant from the Virginia Commission for the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts.
