Learn about the many different ways of writing about individual lives by looking at how the same biographical subject has been treated by several biographers. The class will also cover why it is important to write with some sense of the history of the genre, how to use research in narrative, and how to interview subjects. All writers and researchers are welcome.
Carl Rollyson teaches biography and narrative writing at Baruch College, The City University of New York. He has published biographies of Marilyn Monroe, Lillian Hellman, Martha Gellhorn, Norman Mailer, Rebecca West, Susan Sontag, Sylvia Plath, Amy Lowell, and others.
